ARTE has been a popular destination for FTSK graduates for many years – whether as language and cultural mediators on the German-French program Karambolage or in the field of multilingual corporate communications, language and culture experts are always in demand at ARTE. 

The tour will start at 11:30 a.m. with a coach departing directly from the campus in Germersheim. Participants will be informed about the exact meeting point in time. After the tour, the day at ARTE will end at around 5 p.m. in Strasbourg. The return to Germersheim is planned for around 7 p.m.

The participation fee is 10€. Unfortunately, meals are not included.

The DTT (German Terminology Day Association) is a German professional and interest group for terminology founded in 1987 and based in Cologne. It serves as a forum for anyone involved in terminology and terminology work. Its aim is to solve technical communication problems – for example, through consulting, coordination, and the organization of symposia, seminars, webinars, and workshops. In addition, every two years the DTT awards a prize for outstanding work in the field of terminology science.

The DIT (German Institute for Terminology) was founded in 1993 by a group of experts from the DTT and now acts as the association's official expert group and advisory board. Its main task is to raise awareness of terminology work in terms of its importance, quality, quantity, and reuse. The DIT operates independently of commercial interests and promotes terminological activities through consulting, research, projects, public relations, international cooperation, and training in various specialist areas.

The annual JIAMCATT meeting originated as a working group of the International Annual Meeting on Language Arrangements, Documentations and Publications (IAMLADP) and enables members of various international universities and organizations to exchange ideas and collaborate in the field of computer-assisted terminology work, translation, and interpreting.

The International Association for German Studies (IVG) is an association of scholars in the field of German studies that has existed since 1951. The IVG aims to promote international exchange and cooperation in the study of Germanic languages and literature. Every five years, the International Congress of Germanists takes place, at which IVG members discuss current topics and challenges in German studies.

tekom (Society for Technical Communication – tekom Germany e.V.) is the German professional association for technical communication and documentation. Based in Stuttgart and with over 9,000 individual members and around 725 corporate members, it claims to be the largest European association of its kind. Founded in 1978, tekom promotes the exchange of information and experience, drives forward training and further education, is involved in standardization, and strengthens the professionalization of technical editors – for example, through certificates and competency frameworks. Tekom organizes important industry events such as conferences, trade fairs, and webinars, publishes trade journals, and operates an online terminology database.

The EMT network is a partnership project between the European Commission and higher education institutions offering master's degrees in translation.

The EMT label is a quality mark for master's degree programs in translation. The Directorate-General for Translation awards this label to university programs that meet jointly agreed professional standards and market requirements. The selected programs become members of the EMT network. Only universities belonging to the EMT network are entitled to use the EMT label (a registered trademark of the EU).

On June 2 and 3, 2025, the EMT members' network meeting took place at the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw. Prof. Dr. Rösener traveled to Poland as a representative of Department 06 to participate in the event.

The theme of the first day was “Translating Poland.” Prof. Agnieszka Biernacka, head of the Institute of Applied Linguistics, acted as host. The colloquium program, opened by Prof. Sambor Grucza, took guests on a journey through the history, language, and culture of Poland and offered insights into audiovisual and literary translation, EU terminology, and institutional translation. The lectures were held in Polish and interpreted into English and French by students.

On the second day, the network meeting was opened by Christos Ellinides, Director-General of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) and Chair of the EMT Board, with the theme “Empowering Translation with Technology and Training.” Academics, translators, and EU representatives gave presentations on topics including the DGT's AI tools and their significance for universities, as well as the selection criteria used by EU institutions when hiring translators and interpreters.

The successful and productive EMT Network Meeting 2025 sent its members home with the message to embrace change in the translation industry while preserving valuable traditions, respecting history and future developments, and “leaving no language behind.”

In October 2024, the launch meeting of the new members of the European Master's in Translation (EMT) took place, at which the network for the period 2024 to 2029 was presented. This network consists of 81 master's programs that were selected for their quality in the field of translation studies. The Department 06 in Germersheim has also been a member of the EMT since 2024.

On October 24 and 25, 2024, EMT members from across the EU and beyond gathered in Brussels for their first joint meeting. The highlight of the first day was the presentation of membership certificates by Christos Ellinides, Director-General of the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).

The two-day event not only provided an opportunity to celebrate the new network, but also to make groundbreaking decisions and promote exchange. In addition to the elections for the new EMT board, workshops on EU projects such as Translating Europe were also on the agenda. An open discussion between experts from the EMT and LIND (Language Industry Expert Group) took place with a view to improving future cooperation between academia and the language industry.

With this successful launch, the EMT network is setting an example for the future of translator training and networking with the language industry. Department 06 is delighted to receive the EMT quality award and the opportunities that membership brings.

In September 2023, the European Union launched a new call for applications for membership in the European Master's of Translation (EMT) network. The EMT network is a partnership project between the European Commission and higher education institutions that offer master's programs in translation.

The EMT label is a quality mark for master's programs in translation. The Directorate-General for Translation awards this label to higher education programs that meet jointly agreed professional standards and market requirements.

The selected programs become members of the EMT network. Only universities belonging to the EMT network are entitled to use the EMT label (a registered trademark of the EU).

A team led by Prof. Dr. Christoph Rösener (Department of General and Applied Linguistics and Translation Technology (ASTT)) prepared the application and submitted it in December for the master's program in translation with a total of four specializations (1. Specialized interpreting – social sciences, medicine, law, 2. Technical Translation, Language Management and Artificial Intelligence, 3. Conference Interpreting, 4. Translation – Literature, Media, Culture).

After thorough review, the application was approved in June 2024. For the period 2024-2029, the Master's program in Translation offered by Department 06 Translation, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies in Germersheim is thus an official member of the European Master's of Translation network.

DIN (German Institute for Standardization) is Germany's national standardization organization. It develops standards and norms for products, services, and processes to ensure quality, safety, and compatibility. DIN standards are considered binding references in many industries.
